At the 31st European Safety and Reliability Conference (ESREL), the paper “Resilience and Organisational Limits in the High-risk Nuclear Industry Context“, was presented, offering a critical analysis of resilience strategies and the inherent challenges faced by organisations within the nuclear sector. The authors address the complex dynamics that arise as organisations strive to enhance resilience while navigating strict regulatory frameworks and extreme operational risks.
This research explores how resilience frameworks can be constrained by organisational boundaries, particularly within high-stakes environments where rapid adaptability and stringent safety measures are paramount. By examining real-world cases, the study emphasises the necessity of balancing proactive resilience measures with established safety protocols to minimise operational disruptions.
